The Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers in Scotland (IAAS) welcomes the announcements from Scotland’s First Minister last week. First Minister Humza Yousaf’s contribution at the NFUS Conference gave some clarity on the government’s position and progress and was recognition of the sustained dialogue between the government and a wide range of stakeholders in the agrifood sector, including the many organisations that make up the FAST stakeholder group, as well as NFUS.
There is still a lot of work to do regarding budgetary commitments and allocations, and, more widely, how conditionality will impact on Tier 1 and 2 splits. Going forward, we want to see all stakeholders, farmers and the government to improve dialogue and collaboration so that the planned programmes consider all sectors fairly and that the resulting policies work for everyone
